Offline U.S. Address Search

Search for U.S. street addresses without an internet connection with ForeFlight’s Offline Address Search feature. Made to assist with search and rescue, helicopter EMS, and other specialized missions, this feature allows you to find and route to most addresses in U.S. states and territories during a flight. Offline Address Searching is available with ForeFlight Performance plans.

Internet Traffic via FlightAware

Stream live global aircraft traffic directly in ForeFlight with the Internet Traffic feature. In partnership with FlightAware, ForeFlight allows you to view airborne traffic around the globe, and ground traffic at thousands of airports worldwide, to help you gauge airport activity like active arrivals and runways, see how ATC vectors traffic around weather, or assist with planespotting on the ground. Internet Traffic is included in all ForeFlight subscription plans.

Multitasking Support & Major Design Improvements

ForeFlight's May release includes support for Multitasking on iPad, plus a huge collection of design improvements on both iPad and iPhone that establish a fully unified and consistent interface across all devices. The result is a more efficient layout, a re-imagined compact More menu, support for re-arranging the Tab order, fullscreen layouts for pages like Checklist and Logbook, and the arrival of virtually all iPad-only features on the iPhone, including the FPL "Bubble Editor" and dedicated Plates and Scratchpad views. Watch ForeFlight's Lead Product Designer, Ryan McBride, walk through many of these changes and how to use the new Multitasking functionality.

Marked Positions

Drop detailed markers along your route and view or share them after the flight using ForeFlight’s Marked Positions feature. Perfect for noting points of interest, conducting search and rescue operations, or plotting your position on oceanic flights, Marked Positions provides a highly-flexible solution for many use-cases.

3D Approach Preview

3D Preview in ForeFlight displays markers for each waypoint in your route, including labeled approach fixes, allowing you to better visualize every step of your approach all the way down to the runway. 3D Preview is available with ForeFlight Performance plans.

Mountain Passes & More in High Resolution Basemap

ForeFlight’s High Resolution Basemap includes Jeppesen-sourced terrain and cultural elements such as mountain passes, highway labels, and more for improved inflight reference. The Basemap is what you see with no other charts or maps other than the Aeronautical Map enabled, and depicts terrain, roads, urban lighting, and more. Download the High Resolution Basemap for any region in More - Downloads.

Quick-Access Airspace Frequencies

Easily locate frequencies for many kinds of controlled airspace on ForeFlight’s Maps view for quick inflight access. Tap-hold anywhere on the map to open the Add to Route popup, which lists any airspaces at the location you tapped. Those that have at least one associated frequency will include the frequency and its name at the bottom of that airspace’s summary, which you can tap to highlight the airspace on the map. If an airspace has more than one associated frequency it will indicate the number that are available. Tap the Details button to view these additional frequencies, as well as other information about that airspace. If there are more than four frequencies, tap All Frequencies at the bottom of the Communications sections to see the full list. Any frequencies designated as Secondary include a note indicating this.

Recommended Route Constraints

ForeFlight’s Route Advisor allows you to customize the Recommended Route using flexible route constraints, making it easy to tailor routes to your own needs. Use route constraints to set guidelines that the Recommended Route will follow when generating a new route, with options for including or avoiding certain waypoints, avoiding FIRs, and bounding the minimum and maximum altitudes for the flight. Route Constraints and the Recommended Route are available with ForeFlight Performance plans.

Enhanced 3D Review

3D Review is a flight planning and debriefing capability that allows you to review planned and recorded flights with immersive 3D terrain and aerial imagery, as well as switch between different camera modes for a fully interactive experience. Prepare for an upcoming flight by familiarizing yourself with landmarks and ground features along your planned route, and replay a past flight with pitch and bank data to evaluate your maneuvers. 3D Review is available with ForeFlight Performance plans.

Files in Flights

ForeFlight allows you to associate files, documents, and photos with flight plans using the Files in Flights feature, helping you keep important flight resources organized and easily accessible. Files in Flights is included in ForeFlight Performance plans.

Managing Downloads
Before you take off, be sure to download all the charts, maps, and information you will need for your flight. This video shows you how to do this.
Aircraft Manager for Multi-Pilot Accounts

Multi-pilot account administrators can manage and distribute company aircraft profiles to all the pilots on an account, allowing for easier aircraft management and reduced setup time for large accounts.

Shared aircraft appear in the Aircraft list for all pilots on the account, along with a tag showing the email address of the administrator who published the aircraft. Pilots can view the details of shared aircraft and use them for flight planning, but all details of the aircraft are locked from editing by the pilots, including the performance profiles.

If the account administrator makes any changes to a shared aircraft, a “Publish Changes” button will appear in the bottom-right, allowing them to instantly distribute the changes to every pilot on the account. Clicking “Unpublish” will revoke access to the aircraft for all users other than the administrator, and they will no longer be able to see or use the aircraft for flight planning.

Dark App Theme

ForeFlight now allows you to apply a dark theme to the entire app. Go to More - Settings and tap App Theme at the top, then tap Dark. This darkens the background colors on most pages while maintaining highlight colors and prominent white text, so important information is easily visible.

ForeFlight Checklist

ForeFlight Checklist integrates one of the most important inflight tools at your disposal into the app you already use for every stage of flight, reducing cockpit clutter and providing an intuitive, simple interface. Checklist is included with our Basic Plus and Pro Plus subscription plans, or as an add-on with other plans. Upgrade at foreflight.com/pricing.

Improved Planning Features

ForeFlight now offers an enhanced flight planning workflow thanks to improvements to aircraft, the Maps view flight plan editor, and the File & Brief view, which is now called “Flights”.

This video is for ForeFlight customers with subscription plans other than Performance Plus, including the original plans and the Basic Plus and Pro Plus plans. If you have the Performance Plus plan, or want to see what is different with that plan, check out our Performance video series.

Track Logs
ForeFlight Mobile's Track Logging feature allows you to record your flights and view them in Google Earth or on ForeFlight.com, or share them with others.
Automatic Track Logging

This video describes ForeFlight's auto-start, -stop, and -upload capabilities for Track Logs, and how you can automatically create new Logbook entries from Track Logs.

Introducing ForeFlight Logbook
Logbook integrates seamlessly with the rest of the ForeFlight app to make flight logging easier than ever. With advanced features like automatic entries from Track Logs, encrypted instructor signatures and endorsements, real-time syncing across all your devices, and automatic backups to the ForeFlight Cloud, keeping a digital logbook is simple, efficient and secure.
Logbook Photos and More
ForeFlight Logbook allows you to save memories of flights by attaching unlimited photos to flight entries, aircraft profiles, certificates, and endorsements. Use photos to capture the view on approach to the runway, keep a visual record of squawks, or take a selfie of you and your passengers. Also export an FAA 8710 report to serve as a guide for filling out your Airman Certificate/Rating Application, and track your medical certificates, knowledge tests, and aircraft type ratings.
Logbook Currency Details
Tap on any Currency Summary in ForeFlight Logbook to see detailed information about your progress towards that currency. In the Currency Detail view, the top section shows your progress towards satisfying currency as well as a short description of the FAA requirements for that currency type. Beneath that is a list of all the flights that contribute to currency, followed by a list of all the flights that do not contribute, but which fall within the currency's timeframe, such as 90 days for general VFR currency, and 6 months for IFR currency. This organization makes it easy to see how your flights affect currency, and allows you to easily track down and fix errors in flight entries that should contribute to currency.
Logbook CFI Currency & Aircraft Details

ForeFlight Logbook now supports currency tracking for CFIs, and provides helpful at-a-glance information in the Logbook Aircraft list.

Logbook Aircraft Profile Helper
Complete aircraft profile information is critical to accurate flight currency reporting - ForeFlight Logbook highlights missing information to help your currencies stay on track. If you add an aircraft with missing details to a flight, a warning symbol appears in your currency detail views. Tap on it to see which aircraft need attention and to add the missing information. ForeFlight highlights the relevant fields so you can quickly resolve the issue and get your currency reporting back on track.
Logbook Detail Reports

ForeFlight now supports exporting your entire digital logbook in a traditional logbook format, which you can then print for sharing, gifting, or storing for your records. The new format is available in the Logbook Reports tab, along with the experience and progress reports. Two options are available - condensed and complete.

A common difficulty you may experience when trying to print Logbook detail reports on double-sided pages is that the text on either side of each page is flipped. This is caused by the printer’s binding settings - the default for most printers is long-edge binding, while the detail reports require that short-edge binding be used. This video demonstrates how to change this setting using Adobe Acrobat, but the process may be different based on what printer and program you use.

Helpful Logbook Features
ForeFlight Logbook streamlines your flight logging with intelligent data entry and support for currency-tracking for multiple aircraft types.
Logbook Import
This video walks through the process of transferring data from an exported logbook to the ForeFlight Logbook spreadsheet template, and then uploading that to ForeFlight Web. We recommend this method for anyone with a digital logbook so they can have the easiest upload experience.
LogTen Pro Export
This video walks you through the process of exporting your data from LogTen Pro X so you can import it to ForeFlight Logbook.
User Map Layers

Visit foreflight.com/map-shapes for additional information about this feature and to download sample KML files.

Import Custom User Charts

In addition to user waypoints and user map layers, ForeFlight now allows you to import User Charts that you can manage and display on the map.

The User Charts feature supports MBTiles, an open source file format developed by MapBox that allows for efficient compression and distribution of large charts. The feature does not yet support vector charts, which can also use the .mbtiles extension. A great tool for creating your own MBtiles is MapTiler, which is free to download and allows you to quickly georeference and export raster charts.
