Today Jeppesen ForeFlight announced the launch of ForeFlight Insurance Agency, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary which will serve as an aviation insurance broker for General Aviation pilots via a new web-based platform: the Aviation Insurance Marketplace. Built with the same software expertise behind the widely-used ForeFlight Mobile EFB, the Marketplace is designed to modernize the process of shopping for and buying aviation insurance by making it faster, easier, and more transparent, bringing a digitally-optimized approach to an industry that has traditionally relied on phone calls, manual paperwork, and extended wait times for quotes.
As part of a partnership between Jeppesen ForeFlight and Old Republic Aerospace, aircraft renters and Certified Flight Instructors (CFIs) will be able to purchase non-owned insurance backed by Old Republic via the Aviation Insurance Marketplace at launch, with an expansion into aircraft owner’s insurance from a large variety of insurers planned for summer 2026.
Access to the Marketplace will be rolled out to ForeFlight customers in a phased approach to optimize the user experience and ensure that white glove support is available for everyone who needs it. Customers who don’t yet have access can sign up via a waitlist and will receive an email notifying them when they’ve been added.
“Buying aviation insurance today often feels like it’s still 1999 — phone calls, PDFs in emails, and waiting days or weeks for a quote that might not even be competitive,” said Connor Hailey, Director of Insurance. “Today we’re changing the industry. Pilots should be able to get quotes, compare coverage, and bind a policy in minutes — the same way they buy car insurance. We built the Aviation Insurance Marketplace because no one else has the scale or technology to really modernize this industry, but for us, bringing aviation into the digital era is in our DNA.”
ForeFlight Insurance Agency, LLC is licensed as an aviation insurance agency in 44 U.S. states, with licenses in all 50 expected by summer 2026.
Flexible Policies, Affordable Pricing
Through a new partnership with Old Republic Aerospace, one of the industry’s most established and trusted underwriters, the Aviation Insurance Marketplace provides renters and CFIs with competitive rates and highly adaptable coverage options. These include up to $1 million in smooth liability coverage, $10,000 in deductible reimbursement, and $3,000 in medical expense coverage included . Furthermore, non-owned policies are available in daily, weekly, monthly, and annual durations to suit the diverse needs of modern aircraft renters and CFIs.
A Digital-First Approach to Aviation Insurance
The Marketplace addresses the historically manual and opaque process of aviation insurance by introducing a modern, web-optimized workflow that prioritizes speed, convenience, and transparency. Key features of the Marketplace include:
- Rapid Quoting Engine: most applicants can receive a quote in under 60 seconds, significantly reducing the waiting period typical of traditional brokerages.
- Logbook Integration: To eliminate manual data entry, pilots can auto-fill flight experience details in their application directly from their ForeFlight Logbook.
- Save with Sentry: Owners of Sentry family ADS-B In receivers are eligible for a premium discount on non-owned insurance of up to 10% upon validation of their device's serial number, rewarding pilots for utilizing safety-enhancing technology.
Transparency and Support Throughout
To help pilots configure and understand their policy, the Marketplace provides built-in tips when selecting coverage options, such as how much physical damage coverage to purchase to avoid out-of-pocket costs. Additionally, pilots will find mouse-over definitions of key coverage limits and insurance terms to help pilots understand every quote inside and out.
While pilots can go from applying to signing and purchasing on their own in a single web session, with no need to pick up a phone or consult with a broker, support from licensed insurance experts is available for those who want it. Every page of the application and quoting process includes a one-click support button with both live chat and a phone number to speak directly to an agent.
Safeguarding Customer Data
Protecting customer data is a core priority for Jeppesen ForeFlight and was central to the development of the Aviation Insurance Marketplace. When a pilot submits an application for a quote, only the information they explicitly include in the application is provided to insurers. All other data associated with a customer’s ForeFlight account, including planned and recorded flights, logbook entries, aircraft details, etc. are never shared with insurers and do not influence premium calculations in any way.
This also applies to integrations mentioned above for filling pilot experience details from ForeFlight’s integrated logbook and providing a Sentry device’s serial number to receive a discount on insurance: these integrations only serve to streamline the application process, and do not provide insurers with any more information than what a pilot includes in their application.
Owner’s Insurance Planned for Summer 2026
While the Marketplace currently serves renters and CFIs with flexible policies from Old Republic Aerospace, the upcoming expansion into owned aircraft insurance will bring a much wider selection of insurers to the platform, with all the same digital-first conveniences to make it a true “marketplace” for insurance quoting.
Aircraft owners will also benefit from features that streamline and simplify the more complex application and quoting process typical of owners insurance, especially for co-owners seeking a shared insurance policy.
Aircraft owners with upcoming policy expirations are invited to receive and purchase owned insurance quotes prior to the full rollout. Visit foreflight.com/owners-insurance to sign up.
