Global Graphical NOTAMs
Previously limited to Europe, Graphical enroute NOTAMs are now supported globally with the new NOTAMs map layer. NOTAMs are color-coded based on type, severity, and active times, with new type-based filters available in Map Settings.
High Resolution Basemap
ForeFlight’s High Resolution Basemap depicts ground features and cultural elements in much greater detail for improved inflight reference.
The default basemap provides a basic depiction of major roads and urban areas, while the High Resolution Basemap dramatically increases the level of detail, exposing minor roads and individual railway lines, increasing the resolution of coastlines and urban areas, and highlighting national parks and forests in green. The High Resolution Basemap also adds terrain peak markers with altitudes so you can easily identify the highest points in an area. You can disable these within Terrain settings in the Map Settings menu.
iPad Setup Tips
This video covers some basic iPad settings we recommend to get the best experience from ForeFlight Mobile.
iPhone & iPad Design Improvements
We’ve been working hard on redesigning the app’s interface on the iPhone to create a more consistent and familiar experience between it and the iPad, and this new interface is now available for all ForeFlight customers.
The biggest thing you’ll notice about the new interface is the tab bar at the bottom of the screen, which replaces the “Menu” button as the primary means of navigating around the app. The tab bar makes it much easier to move between different views in the app, and provides a consistent navigation paradigm between the iPhone and iPad.
The iPad has some notable changes as well. Favorite and Recent buttons throughout the app are consolidated under a single button and a new “slim” tab bar design increases usable screen space. Finally, we redesigned the More view to group the tabs on the left into more logical sections. We moved frequently used features like Logbook and Checklist to the top and administration functions like Downloads, Account, and Settings to the bottom.
Logbook Detail Reports
ForeFlight now supports exporting your entire digital logbook in a traditional logbook format, which you can then print for sharing, gifting, or storing for your records. The new format is available in the Logbook Reports tab, along with the experience and progress reports. Two options are available - condensed and complete.
A common difficulty you may experience when trying to print Logbook detail reports on double-sided pages is that the text on either side of each page is flipped. This is caused by the printer’s binding settings - the default for most printers is long-edge binding, while the detail reports require that short-edge binding be used. This video demonstrates how to change this setting using Adobe Acrobat, but the process may be different based on what printer and program you use.

Traffic & Glance Mode in Synthetic Vision
ForeFlight’s Synthetic Vision feature now provides even more situational awareness with integrated ADS-B traffic depictions and a 360-degree interactive Glance Mode. Synthetic Vision is available with the Pro Plus subscription plan and above, and as an add-on to Business plans.
To use Synthetic Vision, make sure you select and download high-resolution terrain for whichever regions you plan to fly in, using the settings menus at the top of More - Downloads. Synthetic Vision can double as a backup attitude display when you connect to an AHRS-capable receiver, but that isn’t required to use Synthetic Vision or either of the new features in this video.
